Motherland

moving

I’ve moved!!!

It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally moved back to the Motherland, the place that spawned me, raised me, and then kicked me out.  But now I’m back, and it’s beautiful.

What facilitated this change from the quiet sleepy fields and beaches of Kent to the slightly less sleepy fields and pubs of Harps was that I finally got myself a full time job.  As some of you may remember, I was previously working at a small nutritional publisher in Kent, which was good fun work, but only part time.  From that I’ve gone to working in Healthcare Admin for a big Regulatory Body.  It’s not the most amazing job in the world, the people are all total loons, the free coffee tastes like liquid mud (but hey, it’s free!), and I’ve got to be all professional-like, but it’s letting me get a place with my girl and enjoy life a little more, so a step forward me’thinks.

The Times They Are A Changing

chans

Not posted for quite a while, for a couple of reasons.

First off since I tied the posts here with my facebook account, I was pretty aware that anything I post here could be seen by the 260+ people who were ‘friends’ with me on facebook.  So before posting anything new here, I had to have a cull of the superfluous, the hangers on, the people I knew (and didn’t even like) from school but hadn’t spoken to since, the people who I’d met once down the pub, and the people I’d just plain never met.  From 260, I managed to hack things back to a more pleasing 130.  This means that anyone left on my facebook account really deserves some kind of award, for either being someone I know and like well enough to care about and/or someone who is a genuinely interesting human being. Way to go you. Give yourselves a big pat on the back.

The second reason, and probably the more important one is…. (see next post)

Scribbling

At the moment I’m frantically trying to find the motivation and inspiration to get to work on all the projects I’m juggling.  For some reason the more I take on, the less anything gets done.  I keep tentatively dipping my metaphorical toe into each project before skipping to the next one, never really making any significant progress in any.  So today I’ve decided I must be harsh with myself, I must be systematic and productive.  I’m going to make a to do list, and get at least one item on it finished today.  The choice is from:

Oddities

So, for various reasons, this week has not been a great one.  First off because my lovely girlfriend has given me the plague.  This is not ideal.  On the plus side though, I feel totally vindicated about every ‘girl germs’ comment I have ever made.  Feels good to be right.

Hence why girls need to be sterilised before touching.

I’m gonna throw a Piggy down the Hill

If anyone remembers that old Tom Green sketch, well you’re showing your age.  If not, go youtube it, or whatever the kids do nowadays.  Anyway, it’s kinda relevant, because at the weekend I went Zorbing.

Some say…

Some people say that my life sometimes seems pretty surreal.  I can confirm this, it sometimes is.

Holidays are Going

One of the worst feelings ever (just worse than accidentally stepping on your puppy) has to be that holiday come down.  You know the one.  We’ve all had it.   When you’ve been away somewhere fantastic, you’ve spent godless hours travelling home, then you step into your house and put down the suitcase.  And then you think ‘fuck, what now?’ Because you no longer have anything to look forward to beyond going to sleep and perhaps dreaming that you’re back on holiday.  The holiday clothes need washing, the house needs dusting, you’re going back to work, and you have to live like a pauper because you’ve over spent on your fantastic holiday to get away from your awful bloody mundane everyday life.

This is currently how I feel.

Holidays Are Coming

Tomorrow I head off for a lovely long weekend break in Hay-on-Wye with my girlfriend.  We’re staying at a very cool little organic B&B and will be checking out all the literary delights of this charming place.  The only downside is that it’s in Wales.  Oh well, nothing’s perfect.

Fit Club

A bit like Fight Club, but without the ideology, fist fights, schizophrenia and general coolness.  So really only vaguely similar.  In fact only similar in that there is lots of sweating and self loathing involved.

Once again I am trying to get back in shape.  All this sitting around drinking gallons of tea and writing has left me somewhat less than fighting fit.  I think if it came to a fight with 4 ninjas in a dark alleyway (much more likely than most people would think), I could probably only take 2 and a half of them down at the moment.  Maybe only 2 if there were pirate ninjas.  For shame.

The Past is a Foreign Country, we no longer live there.

What have I been doing since the Blog was last regularly updated?  To be honest I haven’t a clue.  It’s all pretty fuzzy.  It’s like my life is one long blur with a few sharp memories coming through the fog.  And then they’re gone again.

So in lieu of actual memories of what I’ve been doing, I’ll probably make some up at some point.  Seems like a good idea.  Real life can be pretty dull anyway.  In fact I’ve got the strangest feeling that future posts will be pretty fantastical and surreal and that the Blog will be generally taking a strange turn towards the weird.
